More Books and Hand-Held Objects
The Robber Bridegroom was read aloud. Participants were then given three drinks—one of red, one white, and one of yellow—to consume. I asked them to listen to a song and write about the first memory to come to their minds. Then, I joined them in writing to Edith Piaf’s La Vie en Rose.
After the song finished, I collected all of the writing samples and put them through a paper shredder. I distributed hand-made vellum envelopes onto which the words “Darling, it was only a dream” had been transferred. Participants filled the envelopes with the shredded paper, sealed them, and kept them as souvenirs of the performance.
